Several local coaches provide group and individual training services in track riding at the velodrome.  Coaching can be a positive way to build the confidence and skills required to race competitively.

The coaches listed here are provided for information only.  The San Diego Velodrome Association does not specifically endorse any particular coaching service.

Sean Burke

Sean is a category 2  track racer, and a USA Cycling certified cycling coach  He has an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and a Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology from San Diego State University.

John Ledford's

John has been coaching cycling since 1995 beginning with adult and youth development programs at the San Diego Velodrome. From 2000 through 2006, he coached over 40 athletes to over 120 medal winning performances at National and World Championships.

John is a USA Cycling Certified Level 1 Coach, owner of RPM Training Center and the coach for Big City Velo and the UCSD track cycling team. John has a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology and a Masters degree in Biomechanics and Athletic Training from San Diego State University.

John is a Certified Athletic Trainer, with the National Athletic Trainers Association and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Without question his academic background in Exercise Science has been a key factor in his success as a coach.

As a competitive cyclist he raced on the road beginning in the 80’s and on the track since 1991, with multiple top five finishes at nationals.

For people wanting to hone their racing skills and improve their physical ability or the cyclist who is looking to raise their cycling to a higher level. This program can also be great for someone who is interested in starting racing. Whatever level you may be, Eddie will guide you through all aspects of racing and riding. He will help you perfect your racing position, guide you through a nutrition program and teach you racing tactics and strategy. San Diego area residence will also receive regular motor-paced workouts at the San Diego Velodrome.
