Lee Povey
Coach Lee Povey has been riding bikes since he was 3 and started racing at 13. He first started coaching local riders when he was 20 and was surprised at the difference he could make with a little knowledge and some common sense.
He loves his work and is driven by doing the best he can for the riders he coaches. He finds nothing more fulfilling than helping others achieve their aims, however challenging. Like all PCC coaches, Lee continually works on his knowledge, staying up to date on the very latest in training, nutritional, physiological and recovery advances.
He has coached a number of World, European and National Champions in all disciplines from road to track endurance and track sprint, and has sprint the last two years as the USA Cycling Olympic Development Sprint Coach. He has built a reputation for discovering new talent, and for an honest and mentoring approach.

Pam Jorgensen
Pam Jorgensen Houle is a certified USA Cycling coach with over 30 years of velodrome coaching experience. Pam runs Certification and Track Safety classes March through September. Sean Burke
Sean is the head coach and owner of Crank Cycling in San Diego CA. Sean is a USAC certified coach with 15 years of experience works with athletes right here in San Diego, and across the country. He has a BS in Nutrition, an MS in Exercise Physiology, and has taught college level exercise physiology, exercise testing, nutrition, and sports nutrition. Sean describes his coaching style as supportive but firm, and he uses science-based training whenever possible, but also recognizes the fact that training and coaching are an art as much as a science. Sean also teaches introductory and intermediate velodrome classes for race certification on Wednesday Nights March through September. Sean also runs private motor-pacing sessions. Matt Hoffman
Matt Hoffmann is a former pro-cyclist, coach, and event coordinator. Matt is accomplished both on and off the bike, with recent accomplishments including racing and completing solo Race Across the West (RAW) in 2014 and solo Race Across America (RAAM) in 2015. Additionally, Matt was part of the winning Team Chase as a crew member at the Silver State 508 in 2015. Matt is currently the primary coach for the San Diego VeloYouth and the Junior Development Programs at the San Diego Velodrome. In addition, he works with the Challenged Athletes Foundation and coaches private clients. Matt also is an accomplish motor-coach providing motor-pacing to private clients and on race nights in 2017. John Walsh
Coach John “Walshe” Walsh
John started coaching in the late 80’s at the 7-11 Olympic Velodrome. In 2003 he began coaching at the newly opened VELO-Sport Center where he continues to coach and certify athletes today. John can certify a rider at both the SDVA and the VELO-Sport Center in Carson.
John is an experienced motor-pace driver who has driven at Junior and Elite World Championships at the VELO-Sport Center for the Keirin race, as well as numerous World Cup events. John is an accomplished National Champion on both the Road and Track and has extensive riding experience.
John has a strong nurturing style of coaching with special emphasis for safety. He tends to be hands-on and spends a great deal of time developing an athletes handling skills and helps them develop a deep understanding of race tactics. John is also well connected within the sport and often serves as an ambassador as well as helping other make connections.

Dave Grylls
Dave Grylls won a silver medal in cycling at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Today he gives back to the sport as a youth coach at the San Diego Velodrome where he shows the next generation of cyclists that there's more to sports than winning. Dave coaches special events for junior, masters and elite athletes. When not cycling, Dave is a husband, father, and engineer at UTC Aerospace Systems in Chula Vista.

Pat Murray
Pat is a USA Cycling Certified Level 2 Coach. She has participated in several National Track Championships as well as earning 2 medals at the UCI Masters Track Worlds in 2017. She enjoys teaching "Mass Start" racing skills and loves to share her passion for track cycling with our community - especially Masters Women and Junior Racers. Pat is available for private instruction and coaching.

Rex Ainslie
