The 2010 San Diego Velodrome Championships were contested “mayhem-style”, with each rider receiving a handicap number of points to take into each race. 4 races, each 36 laps, 3 sprints. 7 teams, but different pairings each time. All races somewhat balanced. Members: Keep your eye out for an email with a new gate code. Make sure you have: members@sdvelodrome.com in your address book. Check the Class Page for details. SDVA has just introduced half-price memberships for full-time students at SDVA-affiliated Colleges. To be affiliated (no fee), a College must have one person designated to act as SDVA contact, through which ALL affiliate membership applications and checks are received. In return, it is expected that any student receiving a discounted membership should be involved with at least one volunteer activity for the velodrome. Sunday mornings 10am - SDVA Group Training. Free for members. This is a time set aside for members to meet up and train together. There's usually a group riding madison, but always equal time in between for non-madison riders. Raced track and now would you like to learn to ride madison? Show up for this session and chances are someone will be there to teach you how to sling, and how to interact with other madison riders. The Velodrome has a youth program called VeloYouth and i am a part of that program. At the Velodrome there is a lady named Tanya, she is the one that decided to start VeloYouth. VeloYouth is a 7 - week program that helps kids learn the sport of cycling, while there kids also learn track cycling, responsibility, teamwork, empowerment and pride. I personally love the velodrome. It helps me relieve stress. Proceeds from this event allows the facility to remain open to racers and recreational cyclists, as well as for our other 2009 guests including our own free youth classes, "Sports for Exceptional Athletes", "VeloYouth", & the Balboa Wounded Warriors (October 14th & 15th 2009).
