Live music from Woodstock Mud Aces: Two 60-lap madisons, only. No racing for non-madison Aces this week. Come and listen to the band instead ! 1st Madison - Bring/Pick your own partner. 2nd Madison - Race Director will make up the teams. (so you KNOW if you create a "ringer" team in the 1st race, you'll be appropriately "challenged" for the 2nd). No riding ONLY the 1st madison. All riders must agree to race the 2nd also. Participation in only the 2nd madison may be considered. TRACK RACING FRIDAY - 29TH MAY RESULTS
This past Friday saw a very successful night’s racing at the velodrome, focusing on categories who don’t have dedicated races on Tuesday Nights.. We had in the order of: 18 Juniors (A & B categories) 8 Women 11 D-Grade 11 Sprinters For comparison, it took Tuesday Night Racing 4-5 years to hit this many riders,.. and spectators.
Thank you everyone who showed up and assisted with Friday’s very successful night of racing. Jolie Ramage- officiating Ray Ramage- officiating Kelcie King-York– registration and lap cards Patty Riddle – membership communications Gary Westergren– announcing Pam Jorgensen– women & jr rider coordination Dave Grylls – junior coordination and pick-up Sean Burke – D-grade rider coordination Plus Eric Hollenbeck & Terry Dutton who helped coordinate in advance, and on the day. ………….Apologies to anyone I have omitted. Friday night; a) confirmed that each of these categories can justify their own races, b) showed that together there is more than enough to support an entire evening of racing, and c) gave a running start for anyone who has interest in organizing future such events. Some of us who organized this night of racing are already fully involved with general running of the track, and with Tuesday Night Racing, but we wanted to get the first Friday night going to show it is possible, and to pave the way to make it easier from here on.
I hope that some riders and supporters enjoyed it enough to want to pick up on this, and organize future events. Shaun Wallace Organizer (just this once for Friday Night Racing, though I will come down and help on future Fridays)
